Electrician

First, I received my secondary diploma in industrial science and technology, with a focus on energy and the environment. Then I went to a technical college where I studied power electronics, and did my apprenticeship at Papeteries de Clairefontaine. I am 20 years old and, after working here for two years, my job now covers many areas. You need to be well versed in electrical and mechanical systems to handle a wide array of problems.

In my daily work, I spend a lot of time on the paper machine. I upgrade, repair and clean the cable trays, as they may be damaged or worn. I also work on other projects–mainly concerning the electrical cabinets. For example, we install and commission sensors and video monitoring equipment.

The most difficult part of my job is when, during the summer months, I have to work at heights in the underground levels. You have to be very careful in those situations. What I like most about my job is the electrical drawings we make with the SEE Electrical software. I enjoy installing the new systems and doing the tests before they enter service.

An apprenticeship enables you to become familiar with the industry, and there are many different aspects you need to study in-depth to understand and review all the details. During this training you often learn a great deal. In the future, I would like to specialise in all areas concerning electrical accreditations and standards.

To clear my mind when I’m not at work, I like to do hairstyling for my friends and family. I also like football and music.
