Alexis
MECHANIC
I received my secondary diploma in Beaumont in sustainable development and industrial science and technology, with a focus on technological innovation and eco-design. Then I went on to complete my studies at a technical college specialised in maintenance, where I began a 2-year work-study programme at Papeteries de Clairefontaine. As soon as I completed the programme, I was hired on a permanent contract.
My job is mainly focused on corrective maintenance on the paper machines, but I also do servicing on the presses and rollers. Sometimes I have to intervene in other departments we work with, such as Finishing, Processing and Envelopes. The biggest challenge in my job is when a failure occurs on one of our main systems–we then have to work quickly and effectively.
What I like most about my job is all the handling aspects associated with the presses. I’m only 23 years old, so I have no problem admitting that I still have a lot to learn and to improve in my daily work. But I’m very happy working here because I like all the different things I do. My advice for young people would be to choose a profession where you can continue to grow, and to always stay motivated. Work hard and stay motivated is my motto, you might say. And I know it works, because I’ve practised it myself!
