Regulation technician

Our job opportunities

The part of my job that I prefer is when I have to analyse an unexpected problem and find a solution that suits everybody.

Nicolas

REGULATION TECHNICIAN

After I graduated from secondary school, I continued my studies and received a technical degree in Electrical Engineering and Industrial IT in Saint-Dié. I also followed a three-year programme in Automated Systems and Industrial IT Networks. I completed the three-year programme as part of a work-study arrangement with the Papeteries de Clairefontaine, and they hired me on immediately afterwards.

There are two main parts to my job. The first part is out in the field, where my first priority is to look after the automatic and manual control valves and the pressure and tank level sensors for the pulp. I also perform preventive and corrective maintenance. My second role mainly concerns programming. I develop synoptic functional diagrams and supervision solutions that make it easier for the operators to control and run the machines.

The part of my job that I prefer is when I have to analyse an unexpected problem and find a solution that suits everybody. Good communication between departments is then essential, and I think we could make improvements in this area.

The project I am the most proud of is the migration of the digital control system because we had to change manufacturers, which meant doing a comprehensive study and then re-adapting, re-cabling and commissioning the whole system–all on a tight schedule. For this type of work, you have to be curious and eager to learn something new every day.

In my free time, in order to let off some steam, I enjoy sports. I’m fond of football, running and motorcycling.
