Paper quality manager

After secondary school, I completed advanced/applied maths prep courses and then received a diploma from the PAGORA engineering school. I have been working at Papeteries de Clairefontaine for over a year now as a Paper Quality Manager. My job is cross-functional as I am involved in all aspects of the paper production and transformation process: both when the paper leaves the machines and after it is transformed. I also work on customer disputes and quality issues.

When I arrive in the morning, one of the first things I check is the production from the previous day by analysing the machine records on our QIS system. I then go onto the floor to visually inspect the paper and get feedback from my colleagues about the current production. I usually attend the production meeting afterwards. What I do for the remainder of the day depends on our production needs. At the same time, I oversee the implementation of quality tools for the laboratory and the plant.

The biggest challenge when dealing with machines that run 24 hours a day is to make sure everyone understands that the quality of Clairefontaine paper must be top-notch and, above all, consistent. What I really appreciate about my job is that the industrial tool is right here on site, which enables me to alternate between production and communication with the different departments. Our department has undergone many staff changes, so another challenge for me has been to assist and train the new arrivals during this transition phase by ensuring adhesion to procedures and introducing a more service-oriented mindset.

One key to this job is to remain enthusiastic and bring a lot of energy to your daily work, and my love for horseback riding really helps me recharge my batteries!
