Machine operator

I received my paper-making diploma from a technical school in 2004 at the CFA training centre in Gérardmer. I then worked temp jobs before getting hired at Papeteries de Clairefontaine as a Machine Operator. It’s my job to make sure that the paper machine runs correctly; I control the production rate depending on the different paper substances, while also keeping a close watch on paper transparency.

My work day depends a great deal on the upcoming schedule; there may be several different paper substances to manage or machine stops. In any case, my goal is to improve the characteristics of all of our papers.  There is no set routine in my job, and my interactions with the other workers are always friendly and helpful.

The work itself is actually quite physical. I have to replace coverings and carry loads. However, the shift schedule does free up time for me during the week, which I appreciate. To unwind, I like to travel and spend time with my family. I’m also a bee-keeper, which is possible in our region. I’m hoping to harvest my first honey very soon.
